An exercise in modern efficiency, this residence for a painter/lawyer and a photographer/marketing executive is designed as a minimalist retreat. Massing is derived from the clients' idea of the house as a sculptural installation. The house, conceptually, is an excavated mass carved to allow light, access, and ventilation. Special consideration was given to the fenestration in regards to the sun's path, privacy, and the changing views of the Hudson River.
