The Hyperbolic Paraboloid Project started as the initial collaboration between the Allentown Association and UB's School of Architecture. The original design called for a stainless steel panel system, but was impractical and too costly. For two years, the structure went unfinished without a roof system. Jake Wright was charged with the task of designing a cost effective, beautiful, and functional roofing system. The design incorporates custom fabricated stainless steel standoffs and polycarbonate panels. These panels overlap eachother in two directions shedding water into the gardens below. The design, permitting, fabrication, and installation was completed in 8 weeks and within budget. The actual installation of the panels took only one day.
